This website has been set up to :

• To assist the public by gathering information related to the various searches for the Koombana, the Gilt Dragon survivors and various other wrecks and sites obtained from a number of sources in a central location;

• To provide a place where interested parties who may believe they have come across the wreck are able to provide details of where they believed the Koombana wreck is so that the location can be investigated and potentially obtain a reward provided by the Maritime Archaeology Association of Western Australia. MAAWA; and

• To include other recent history relating to the maritime usages of the port of Port Hedland.

• This site is run by persons interested in maritime history on a part-time basis and aims to improve over time.
