In 2022, long time resident of Port Hedland and guide at the Koombana museum, Mr Arnold Carter provided an oral history regarding his experiences with the early days of Port Hedland in the 1960s, including his involvement in the search for Koombana wreck. Mr Carter discusses his views on the circumstances of the wreck and if the wreck will ever be found. The interview has been edited to focus on relevant information regarding Port Hedland and the SS Koombana.
